After 33 years working as a mass spectroscopist, I took early retirement in April 2009. I'm planning on using my new-found freedom to develop my photography.
Many of the images on the site are from my trips to Africa. So far I've visited Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya. All bar the first trip were with my friend Didi Barnes. Both of us share a love for Southern Africa.
Most of the images are of UK birds. Back in 2005 Didi, having been interested in the birds visiting her garden, asked me to take her to the local RSPB reserve. I'd been interested in birding as a child (thanks to my schoolfriend Alan Harris, now a famous bird artist) but other things took over post-adolesence. Now, thanks to Didi my interest has been reawakened.
